The Power of Objects to Shift Perspectives

For more than twenty years I have been building narrative porcelain teapots, driven by a fascination with the power objects hold in shaping how we see and experience the world.

Objects authenticate our lives. They ground us in the tangible, yet they also have the power to move us beyond the everyday. In my practice, I use the stabilising, concrete nature of ceramics as a point of departure for imagination – an invitation to reflect, remember, and reconsider the familiar.

For more than half a millennium, the humble teapot has gathered people together through the daily ritual of tea. Over time it has transcended its ergonomic function to become a vessel for stories, status, and cultural meaning. In a world where many of our communal interactions are stored in an ephemeral cloud, the resilient teapot takes on renewed significance as a keeper of moments, conversations, and places.

My creative practice is an ongoing search for objects that carry a quiet spiritual resonance – objects capable of shifting our perspective so subtly and magically that they alter the way we move through daily life.

More than ever, the objects we choose to live with matter. They remind us that we are not separate from nature; we are part of it. Through them we recognise that everything is connected.
