Description[1]  = 	"	'THE CONUNDRUM'
Slip cast porcelain with hand built inclusions and found river pebbles. 2004 90cm wide x 25cm high. My husband is a Geologist and from years of remote exploration has acquired a most impressive rock collection. So comprehensive is his collection of exotic minerals that it is slowly consuming our home.
'The Conundrum' was inspired by the challenge of finding more space to display his brilliant rock collection.One time I accompanied him on a field trip through the Tidal Ranges in Tasmania.  As we trekked along a dormant creek bed, I noticed a carpet of tiny stunningly colored river pebbles.  As a memento of the journey I filled my pocket with a handful of them.   As I rarely discard anything, these pebbles found the perfect home in 'The Conundrum'. ";

Description[4]  = 	"	'CORKUS'
Slipcast porcelain, altered with handbuilt sections, recycled wood and metal. 27cm wide x 30cm high
'Corkus' was part of the Leavings exhibition of 2002. These works began as Leavings, things left over, remnants deemed worthless. The leavings were discovered in the form of glass bottles found partially buried in a paddock on my families farm. Amongst the family, these piles of detritus are more commonly known as the Bottle Tip. Each work features altered handmade porcelain bottles which have been slipcast from these found bottles. The original bottles convey the diversity of form and decoration characterised by their era.
The slip cast bottle is a starting point from which to cut, impress and rejoin in the creation of new forms. Although each form has undergone a dramatic reformation,  traces of their decoration and classic forms re-awaken our memories, hinting at their ancestors, the beautiful enduring glass leavings. ";

When I dismantled the screen I found, concealed inside, thousands of large granules of charcoal. I rarely discard anything so these granules found a home in a container on my workbench.
This curious collection became an interesting conversation piece with many onlookers querying me regarding its origins. They would dip, drag and sprinkle their fingers through the tiny granules, seduced by their colour and texture.
'What To Do With The Detritus' is a narrative which represents my thoughts out loud as I solve the problem of finding a home for all my found treasures.    I was determined, before I departed Calgary, to find an appropriate home for these small grains of curiosity.   ";
