Fleur Schell Biography

In 2005 Fleur and her husband Richard Hill established the Premier International Ceramic Residency Program in Western Australia. Fleur is the director of SODA – Sculptural Objects and Design Australia. This includes a clay workshop facility, artist studios, The Corridor Gallery and a residential apartment for visiting artists.
Fleur was raised on a farm in the Wheat Belt of Western Australia. In 1993 she received a Diploma of Ceramic Art and Design at the Western Australian School Of Art and Design. In 1996, She graduated from Curtin University in Western Australia with a Degree in Visual Art and in 1997 she achieved First Class Honours in ceramics at the Hobart School of Art in Tasmania.
Fleur has presented as a master at Gulgong in NSW and demonstrated at The Australian National Ceramics Conference. Fleur has presented at Universities and Art Colleges throughout Australia including The Australian National University in Canberra, The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, The Jam Factory in Adelaide and the Arts Academy of The University of Ballarat. In 1991 Fleur was the Artists in Residence at The Alberta College of Art and Design. She has presented at The University of Manitoba, Red Dear College in Alberta and The Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver.
Fleur has exhibited extensively throughout Australia including Raglan Gallery and Cudgegong Gallery in NSW, Skespi on Swanson in Victoria, Fusions in QLD and Form - The Contemporary Craft and Design Centre and Aspects in Western Australia.
Her work has been published in The Ceramics Journal of Australia, Art and Perception and Object Magazine, 500 Cups and 500 Pitchers by Lark Books, “Porcelain and Bone China "by Sasha Wardell, “Craft Unbound, Make The Common Precious” by Kevin Murray and “Naked Clay” by Jane Perryman.
